Dear friends and colleagues of Development and Peace

Your solidarity is making a difference in Haiti.

It has been a year since Haiti experienced a devastating earthquake that killed 300,000 people, left 1.3 million homeless, destroyed much of the capital Port-au-Prince and left an already poor country in an even greater state of vulnerability. Your solidarity is making a difference in Haiti. DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE was touched by the outpouring of generosity from the Canadian public who donated $20 million towards our emergency appeal for Haiti.

With these funds, DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE contributed to emergency relief in the country and has put together a reconstruction program that will make a difference in many lives in Haiti.

We are supporting 25 local partners who are responding to needs in their communities created or worsened by the earthquake, whether it be strengthening food security, improving the safety of women, getting children back to school or building houses.

Progress in Haiti is not without its challenges, but the dedication and determination of our partners to improve their country gives us hope for Haiti and we want to share that hope with you.

We have prepared a special web feature for you filled with stories, videos and photos of the work being carried out by our partners. Together we are laying the groundwork for change and this could not have been done without your support.
