Reading I Genesis 9.8 - 15 Responsorial Psalm Psalm 22: How deep the peace, the confidence, of those whose wrongs are forgiven. How deep the peace, the confidence, of those whose hearts are healed.
Reading II 1 Peter 3. 18 - 22 Gospel Mark 1.12 - 15
Food for Thought
  • I too, have known times of temptation when I felt on my own except for the wild beans, the irrational forces that were messing up my life.
  • Lord, you felt the influence of evil and were tested. You were purified as you came through a difficult time. When I was in the middle of such a time, it did not feel like God’s hand, but like desolation and despair. When I look back, I can see how God was shaping me.

ARE YOU NEW TO OUR PARISH?     WELCOME!

Welcome to those who want to make our parish their faith home. You may have come from other places. You may have been “away for a while”. Be assured that we love to have you among us. We would appreciate it very much if you identified yourself at Mass. It would also help if you would take the time to fill out a registration form. The next time you are with us, you may leave it in the collection basket or give it to one of the ushers or to the priest.

Thank you and welcome.

Development and Peace intends to collect $10 million during its new fundraising campaign which began on Ash Wednesday with the theme “I believe, I give.” The Share Lent Campaign is an opportunity to tell people in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Middle East that we support their efforts in order to build a more just society.

Since 1967, the organization has supported over 15,200 development projects and emergency relief programs, representing a contribution of 530 million dollars, and has organized annual education campaigns for the Canadian public. Last year, Development and Peace funded 277 development projects in the South. Take a look at the insert in the bulletin entitled “Solidarity World Tour” and read about some of the success stories from all over the world. And remember to look at the Lifestyle Awareness Calendar you received last week – the calendar invites us to reflect on the wealth we enjoy as part of our lifestyle.

CANCER SOCIETY RELAY FOR LIFE 2009

25-Feb-09

Dear Parishioners,

Again this year I will be participating in the 12-hour Relay for Life, for the Canadian Cancer Society, on June 5th at Mc Andrew Park and am asking you for your support.

  1. If you know of any cancer survivors, or those in treatment, please let me know. We would like to honour them in a special manner that night. Contact me at 819-986-3166 for more details.

  2. I would also like your financial support and will be collecting your donations in May.

  3. Anyone wishing to purchase luminaries (candles) can buy directly from me ($5.00 each) or at various spots in town beginning in April.

  4. Continue collecting your soda bottles and cans, box at the, entrance of the church, so far $80.00 has been raised.
Also the Robitaille family would like to thank you for purchasing our homemade goodies the last few weeks. Thanks to you we have raised $350.00 for the cause. A table will be set up at the St. Pat’s tea should you wish to purchase more of the goodies.

Note: Last year this event raised $66,500 with the Robitaille family raising $5,201 for this cause. We are all asking for your support in helping us ensure that cancer becomes history.
Last year I stated that for each luminary that was purchased from me, in memory or in honour of. family or friends, I would list their names on a banner and walk for them that night. They became part of my 40 miles walk.

Thanks,

Monique Simpson
