Reading I Leviticus 13. 1-12, 45 - 46 Responsorial Psalm You are my refuge, O Lord, and the joy of my salvation.
Reading II 1 Corinthians 10.23 – 11.1 Gospel Mark 1. 40 - 45
Food for Thought
  • Lord, you warned the leper to keep your mission a secret. What mattered for you was your inner sending, your contact through prayer with the father.
  • Preserve me, Lord from the cult of image and from wanting to publish what I am about. I want to be like you, drawing inner strength rather from prayer and my link with God.

ARE YOU NEW TO OUR PARISH?     WELCOME!

Welcome to those who want to make our parish their faith home. You may have come from other places. You may have been “away for a while”. Be assured that we love to have you among us. We would appreciate it very much if you identified yourself at Mass. It would also help if you would take the time to fill out a registration form. The next time you are with us, you may leave it in the collection basket or give it to one of the ushers or to the priest.

Thank you and welcome.

LENT AND DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE
The Liturgy Committee and the Transformation Committee are planning to use the Development and Peace symbols to decorate our two churches during Lent. We are asking parishioners for help in locating the required symbols, which are:

  1. Chatangas - a Zambian colourful woven cloth which can be worn as a skirt, or as a shawl. It can be used to carry babies or wound up to protect women's heads when they are carrying water or heavy loads on their heads.

  2. Woven baskets, in a variety of shapes and patterns, used to bring goods to market and home again.

  3. Maracas or drums - symbol of the way in which Zambians can transcend hardships to build a community of joy.

If you have one of these symbols and would not mind lending it from the 1st Sunday of Lent (February 28/March 1) until Solidarity Sunday (March 28/29), please contact the church Secretary, Alma Miller.

A GREAT HUMANITARIAN PROJECT
A group of 25 women will depart next week (February 18th) on an international solidarity project to the African country of Burkina Faso. This trip is organized by the Centre Actu-Elle, a local organization whose mission is to offer services to all women in our community, no matter their status, in order to improve their lot in life. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Centre Actu-Elle decided to visit women's groups in Burkino Faso's capital as well as remote villages with a view to financing some projects which will improve women's conditions.

One of their projects was to purchase bicycles ($100.00 each) for women in a remote village in the southwestern area of Burkino Faso, an area which is receiving very little international aid.

Every day, women must walk up to 15 km to do their daily work, while carrying children on their backs and other articles on their heads. Through some advertising locally and a few articles in Le Droit and Le Bulletin, the Centre Actu-Elle has been able to raise enough funds to purchase and have delivered over 75 specially designed bicycles. These bicycles will be presented by the Centre Actu-Elle during their visit.

Our parishes became involved with this project by purchasing three (3) bicycles for the women of Burkino Faso; two by the OLV Wardens and one by the members of the Transformation Committee.  We can follow the journey of these 25 women by logging on to their website at the following address:   http://web.mac.com/nbcom/Centre_Actu-Elle/Accueil.html
