ARE YOU NEW TO OUR PARISH? WELCOME!
Welcome to those who want to make our parish their faith home. You may have come from other places. You may have been “away for a while”. Be assured that we love to have you among us. We would appreciate it very much if you identified yourself at Mass. It would also help if you would take the time to fill out a registration form. The next time you are with us, you may leave it in the collection basket or give it to one of the ushers or to the priest. Thank you and welcome.

FALL WORKSHOP FOR ALL LEADERS IN ALL ENGLISH PARISHES OF OUR DIOCESE
A note to both wardens groups as well as to all parish committees: please be sure that your 'homework questionnaire' is ready to bring with you on November 8th. If no one from your committee plans to attend, please be sure that you hand your completed document over to any one of the PPC members. Our focus at this workshop will be an Assessment of how our parish communities are doing in light of the challenge of Catechesis. Please make a point to be present and active on Saturday November 8th, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Our Lady of Annunciation, 189 rue Archambault (Hull sector).

HALF WAY THERE
We are more than half way through the month of October with Fr. Gyan away on holidays and it is beautiful to see our two parish-community working/praying together -- especially in the light that those from Mayo would most certainly have to rearrange their weekend schedules in order to participate. Let us continue this joined-journey, leaning on each other with Christ in the middle to hold us up!

DEVELOPMENT & PEACE FALL CAMPAIGN

The last two bulletins provided parishioners with information on this fall’s Development and Peace (D&P) campaign Working our land, fighting for our rights. The insert in last week’s bulletin provided stories of people in Honduras who are experiencing increased poverty and loss of livelihoods resulting from natural resource exploitation. Today, parishioners at the 9:00 am mass at OLV were invited to sign an action card asking the Prime Minister to develop legal mechanisms to hold Canadian mining companies accountable for their actions abroad.

If you should need more information before signing this action card, you can take a look at the two D&P documents at the entrance to the church “Land - Backgrounder” and Global Village Voice”, or visit the D&P website at www.devp.org. Signed cards can be deposited in the collection baskets at any mass (OLV and St. Malachy) during the next few weeks, or left with the secretary. Please note that there are two cards; one addressed to the Prime Minister and the other to your local Member of Parliament. All you need to do is sign both cards and add your address to both. Our local members of D&P (Linda, Diane, Jean and Shirley) will fill in the name of the MP, separate the cards afterwards and forward them on to our Diocesan Council.

OLV FINANCIAL REPORT
The OLV financial report is available with your bulletins this week. Please take the time to read it, and if you have any questions the wardens will answer them at Fellowship with Coffee in the hall, after Mass next Sunday, November 2nd.

KIDS CHOIR
Calling on all kids 7 years old and over, who like to sing in a choir. There would be a practice once a week for an hour at OLV Church, possibly on Monday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30. The time and day could be discussed further. For more information or to join, please phone Sandra at 819-986-1185.

CHRISTMAS TEA
The Society will be hosting the Christmas Tea on Saturday, December 6th, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Please note change in time. Please reserve that date and it is also a good time to start making those Christmas goodies. Thanks. (signed Monique for the OLV Society).
