Food for Thought
  • Lord this is your way of stopping tell-tales in the church. If I am upset about somebody, then the first person for me to approach is that person, with respect and kindness, no matter who it is.
  • Do I run instead to the ‘’authorities’’ expecting ‘’head office ‘’ to come down on my side? Do I write letters of complaint without having voiced my concern to the one I seek to denounce? That is the opposite of Christian behavior.
  • Whatever I do when I am upset, Lord, let me do it in charity.

ARE YOU NEW TO OUR PARISH? WELCOME!
Welcome to those who want to make our parish their faith home. You may have come from other places. You may have been “away for a while”. Be assured that we love to have you among us. We would appreciate it very much if you identified yourself at Mass. It would also help if you would take the time to fill out a registration form. The next time you are with us, you may leave it in the collection basket or give it to one of the ushers or to the priest. Thank you and welcome.

Thank you for bringing our larger faith community together on this special day.

DIOCESE CHANGE IN MASS OFFERINGS
We have received a new directive from the Diocese concerning the offering for Masses. The offering has now been increased to $20:00 from the current offering of $15:00, effective September 1st. The offering for Marriages has now been increased to $300.00. All Masses requested prior to September 1, remain at $15.00.

ANOTHER YEAR IS UPON US
It is a "funny" thing with what we consider the beginning of another year. The calendar begins on the first of January. The Church year begins the first Sunday of Advent. The school year begins at the end of August/the beginning of September.

And so it goes; with September upon us, kids and teachers are back to school, commuters' weekday stop-and-go traffic returns, the nights will get colder and the days shorter. We begin with the long weekend and perhaps travelling or visitors, Grandparents Day on September 7, Catechesis Sunday on September 21st and meetings of all kinds with all the committees that take care of the different aspects of what we are as Church. As each of those special occasions mentioned above draw near, we will have details both at Sunday Mass as well as in the bulletin. In the meantime we would ask that you please keep all these above mentioned people in your prayers this month.

GRANDPARENTS DAY - SEPTEMBER 7th
This Sunday is a very, very special day for many of our parishioners! It's National Grandparents Day which began in Canada in 1995 when Mr. Sarkis Assadourian's motion was passed in the House of Commons. There are three purposes for National Grandparents Day:

  1. To honor grandparents.
  2. To give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children's children.
  3. To help children become aware of the strength, information and guidance older people can offer. A very important day indeed; and there are lots of ideas for activities on the internet to celebrate that special day! Along with the special mention and blessing at Mass this weekend, we also offer two articles for your reflection. They both have practical ways for us to help our children and our children's children grow in faith along side us, sharing and praying along the way. Happy Day and happy reading!
