Food for Thought
  • In many countries ordained priests are few, many parishes are priestless, and seminarians are few. Is this the message here from God?
  • But even where fewer priests are being ordained, the church is thriving in some places where the Christian community is reduced to basics.
  • Lord, I ask you for the courage and the opportunity to be active in my community, and to make it a growth-point of Christian living.

ARE YOU NEW TO OUR PARISH? WELCOME!
Welcome to those who want to make our parish their faith home. You may have come from other places. You may have been “away for a while”. Be assured that we love to have you among us. We would appreciate it very much if you identified yourself at Mass. It would also help if you would take the time to fill out a registration form. The next time you are with us, you may leave it in the collection basket or give it to one of the ushers or to the priest. Thank you and welcome.

PILGRIMS FROM AROUND THE WORLD ARE ON THEIR WAY TO THE 49TH INTERNATIONAL EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS IN QUEBEC CITY -- JUNE 15 TO 22, 2008.
Our Christian community of Our Lady Victory welcomes Emma Manon Falimina Abouanni, daughter of Charbel- Michael Abouanni and Annie France Joyce. May the Lord of love bless and keep you. She will receive Baptism June 08th.

49TH INTERNATIONAL EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS IN QUEBEC CITY - JUNE 15TH TO 22ND
Our participation in Sunday Eucharist is not for ourselves alone. We are fed with the Word of God, and we eat the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, so that we may become the hands and the feet and the voice and the face of Christ for the world. We are the People of God in the world. “By her very mission, ‘the church … travels the same journey as all humanity and shares the same earthly lot with the world: she is to be a leaven and, as it were, the soul of human society in its renewal by Christ and transformation into the family of God’.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 854). The One who feeds us empowers us to act for the good of the world. Such a gift of life!

The words that make up the refrain of the theme song for the 49th International Eucharistic Congress plunge us into the heart of the mystery of the Eucharist—a gift of God for the life of the world:

"O God source of life, we thank you for your gift: this bread and wine for the life of the world. United in praise, we come to the feast to take in our hands, God's gift for life. For this we praise you, Lord."

“Lord, may this sacrifice which has made our peace with you, advance the peace and salvation of all the world” (Eucharistic Prayer III): We pray for the pilgrims who have left for Quebec City, for those of us who remain here at home and for the life of the whole world.

VISIT BY BISHOP FELIX TOPPO
We would like to thank Bishop Toppo from the home Diocese of Father Gyan in Eastern India, for taking the time to visit the parishes of St. Malachy and Our Lady of Victory and participate in our Saturday and Sunday Eucharist Celebrations, while he was here to visit with Father Gyan. He has now left to attend the 49th International Eucharist Celebrations in Quebec City. We wish him a safe journey and our prayers are with him.

OUR "WEBMASTER" STEPS DOWN
We would like to acknowledge a very special person who has worked diligently these past 4 years 'behind the scenes' so to speak. Ambrose Ward has been our Website Administrator since the inception of our website at www.stmalachyolv.com and must now take leave of these duties. We are sad to see him go, as he has been a tremendous asset to our 'spreading the Word' out there in the land of the World Wide Web. So thank you Ambrose for all you have done in this capacity week after week, year after year.

Since Ambrose is leaving this post, we are now officially on the lookout for another volunteer with some experience in this field. Ambrose has generously offered to lend a hand to the new Web Administrator to show him/her the ropes. If you are interested or know someone who might be interested, please let us know! You can contact any one of the PPC members or leave a message with Alma at the office (819-986-3763).
